Originally from Middleboro, Massachusetts, Zachary has traveled to all corners of the world for military service or cultural exchange and learning opportunities. Coming to Naropa University as a Marine Corp veteran, it has remained Zachary's focus to transform Naropa into a school of healing and reintegration for Veterans while enrolled at the university. His vision for the Naropa SVA is to create a chapter that goes above and beyond the typical route of providing career opportunities and opening doors, it is his commitment to leave behind a chapter that prioritizes the healing of the warrior spirit in all SVN members.
"The SVA of Naropa University stands at the forefront of unprecedented potential for students and student veterans. By coming together through the spirit of healing the warrior within, we can explore healing and consciousness in an academic and therapeutic environment. Providing structure and compassion, the ideal pillars for helping Veterans integrate back in to society."

Hailing from the Ozark mountains in Southwest Missouri, Mike began fostering a deep love for nature and the outdoors as early as he can remember. His growing passion for the wild and its vast open landscapes has served as a guidepost, illuminating the numerous paths he’s taken in life thus far. Being inspired by nature informed Mike’s move to Colorado over a decade ago, and it is with immense gratitude that he still gets to call Boulder, CO. “home” today.
Similar to answering his call to the wild, Mike’s humble origins in Missouri championed in him a posture of duty and service to his country at an exceptionally young age. Being the youngest of four men in his family to join the military during war time, he answered “the call” after witnessing his brothers return home from their service with immense pride. As Mike observed his brothers upholding their family’s name with honor, it inspired him to enlist in the US. Army.
Upon returning home from war and navigating the complexities within the integration process from military to civilian life, Mike soon began experiencing symptoms related to immense anxiety and depression. It took four years and numerous friends and colleagues, who Mike retained from his military career, to beg him to finally seek out resources pertaining to his disabilities and education benefits. With a leap of faith, Mike surrendered to his reality and began his healing journey- A Journey that has led to a substantially happier life.
Now, after finding his way to Napora University with dreams, visions, aspirations, goals, and clear intentions for self-growth and development in his heart, Mike is answering a new call. He has joined alongside close friend and colleague, Zachary Alden, to help carry the SVA of Napora University torch as it stands at the forefront of unprecedented potential for him, fellow students, and student veterans. By coming alongside Zach and his Napora community, Mike has been able to discover courage, confidence, and compassion for himself and others while deepening his relationship with his own inner Warrior Spirit. Through the exploration of numerous healing and consciousness modalities within the Napora academic and therapeutic environment, Mike now has a structure for building the ideal pillars necessary for helping him integrate back into society.
"Zach, I wouldn't be as far as I am in my development as a student veteran if it weren't for you. My appreciation for you is beyond what words contain, brother. Thank you so much."
